A Walk in the Garden

Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature, is a help. Gardening is an instrument of grace. ~May Sarton

Good afternoon, gentle readers.  How is your garden growing?

I'm very happy with how our vegetables are doing.  My husband started almost all our plants by seed.  He planted them and waters them faithfully.

The tomatoes will be ready to pick once they ripen.  No shades of yellow, orange, or red yet.

The green beans are ready and I hope to pick them and cook them up for dinner one night this week.

If you would like to join me for a walk in the garden, you can watch my video HERE.

    1. Robin, is your farmer's market open 7 days a week or just during the weekend? I think the nearest one to me is only open on the weekend.

    2. It is only open from 9 to 10 on Saturdays. Most of it is still "virtual" (order online by Thursday and pick up Saturday) although they have started having extra items for sale during the 9 to 10 pickup. So far, we haven't gotten there, but hope to soon.

    1. Barbara, the weather here has been so hot that I think that has helped them grow faster!

  4. Your garden looks like it is doing very well. Our tomatoes are coming along really great too. Peppers have a long way to go. Your backyard looks very cozy, I can see how you would really enjoy it out there. Love that fountain!

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Maria Craik, A Life for a Life, "Chapter XVI: Her Story," 1859
