Patiently Waiting...

It is so terribly hard to wait patiently.  I am trying my best.  It will only be a few days longer until my arms will be full again with a little bundle of love.

We are adopting another rescue puppy.  Lilah Rose is 3 1/2 years old and we are ready for another sweet addition to our family.  We found Lilah at the Humane Society in North Carolina when she was 3 months old.  She is such a joy to us.

We looked into a number of different dog rescues in our area and chose a very reputable one not far away.  This particular rescue drives down to Georgia and Tennessee each month and rescues dogs and puppies that have been abandoned on the side of the road or in shelters and transports them up north to individual fosters who then care for them until a suitable adopting family is chosen for them.  It is a long process and the puppies/dogs are well cared for.

I originally applied for a sweet little girl but then decided not to go further into the process with her because I could tell she was mixed with pit bull.  That did not bother me but I knew my children would not be pleased so sadly I had to squelch that hope.

And then I saw... this little fellow.  He just melts may heart.  He is so sweet and loving.  He is a hound mix of some kind.  I am guessing beagle and maybe boxer.  We will do a DNA kit on him in a few months just to see what he is and it will give us a heads up on potential health issues etc.  Our little man, Tucker, is only 7 weeks old and weighs 6 lbs.

I applied for him a few weeks ago.  He was just listed as puppy #19 at the time.  It was love at first sight for me.  I mulled over names in my head and decided on Tucker.  When the foster mother contacted me about my application, she told me that she was just calling him Tucker and we could of course change his name to whatever we wanted.  I took that as a sign from God.  I mean, what are the odds that I thought of the very name that he was already being called?

Tucker will be coming home to us later this week and I am counting the minutes!

  1. I'm so happy for you! When I think of how long you struggled with the decision to keep Lilah Rose! And now you're adding to the family. They are such good company for you! I would love to have a dog if I had a fenced in yard. I don't want to get a dog that has to be stuck inside all of the time. Enjoy your day! Tucker is a special name for me too!

    1. Robin, they are doing well together. They do like to wrestle which makes me a bit nervous!

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Maria Craik, A Life for a Life, "Chapter XVI: Her Story," 1859
