No Matter What the Winds May Bring

Many birds fly south when the autumn winds take there toll.  They leave all behind in search of warmth and a home.  This little sparrow flew north. No matter what the winds may bring, it is north where I will build my nest.

I arrived a few days ago and, for the most part, am quite content.  In a few weeks, all my belongings will arrive and with them all the chaos one has settling in.  Crazy as it seems, I look forward to that.

Until then, I am enjoying long autumn walks.  On Sunday, I walked to this little local coffee shop and treated myself to hot cocoa and a pumpkin muffin.  The weather was brisk but beautiful and I could not bear sitting inside on such a glorious morning.  I dare think this little coffee shop will be a regular stop on my morning walkabouts as I've walked their twice in three days.  Sadly no pumpkin muffin today so it was simply hot cocoa.

    1. Connie, the temperatures have mostly been in the 50's and 60's. A far cry from southern temps in their 80's!

Thank you so much for visiting and commenting! I look forward to getting to know you better.

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Maria Craik, A Life for a Life, "Chapter XVI: Her Story," 1859
