A Million Little Things

Friendship isn't a big thing — it's a million little things. ~Author unknown

It feel like forever ago since I last wrote a post.  So much has happened since then.

Last Friday was the closing on the house.  It was a long day.  My daughter accompanied me to the final walk through and closing. My husband stayed in North Carolina to finish up the packing before the movers arrived.  As I had my husband's power of attorney for the closing, I had a lot of signing to do.  There were countless documents that I had to sign as me and then "my husband's name by my name as attorney in fact" on each document.  I'm surprised the pen didn't run out of ink.

After the closing, it was back to the house to wait for the locksmith. Hours later... he arrived.  Hours later... he was done.  Meanwhile, my daughter and I had lunch and "planned" and "rearranged" furniture in our heads.  We took measurements and made notes.  I have a rough idea of where I want to put things.

The weekend passed with a blink of the eye.  I honestly can't even remember all that we did.

Now it is Tuesday.  The movers have loaded the truck in North Carolina and will be on their way here  ~ due to arrive on Thursday. My husband is driving up tomorrow with the precious items that we didn't quite trust with the movers.  It will be good to see him again.

Today, we drove by the house and I checked the mailbox.  Lo and behold! A very sweet card from my dear friend Barbara from the UK. Thank you, Barbara! I so look forward to moving in and having a little home again.  I will place your card on the fireplace mantel. ♥

Thank you so much for visiting and commenting! I look forward to getting to know you better.

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Maria Craik, A Life for a Life, "Chapter XVI: Her Story," 1859
